Things to be Thankful for

Friday, October 09, 2020

On this the weekend of Canadian Thanksgiving, it's always nice to take a look at what a person has in their life to be thankful for. Possibly more important than ever in this year of Covid 2020.

It's pretty simple for me. I'm thankful for my health. Even if it's only so-so, it's still better than what many others have to deal with. I'm thankful for my family - my husband, children and extended family. I'm thankful that most of us have jobs that give us security, and that we have each other's backs. I'm thankful for the many wonderful, amazing storytellers in the world. You all inspire me, and someday when I grow up I hope to be half as good at weaving such excellent yarns as you!

I'm thankful for all the hard work of the organizing committee for When Words Collide - that excellent conference for readers and writers. I've been priviledged to be able to facilitate some sessions these last few years, something that I enjoy tremendously, even though I have to battle a lot of self doubt and a wee touch of anxiety before I start speaking. This year's conference was online, and saw guests from around the world attend. I myself had a lovely lady from South America join one of my sessions, as well as folks from across the States, as well as from Canada. All the sessions from the whole conference are being prepped for posting to U-Tube - a task so huge and daunting that I am flabbergasted at the scope. I think they've got about half up so far ... none of mine as of yet. But they're working on it! Until then, I've posted my speaking notes here on my blog.

So - what are you thankful for this year? I'd love to hear from you :)
